Jean-François Boclé est basé à Paris. Il est né en 1971 en Martinique où il y vécu près de 17 ans. Il a suivi une formation à l’École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Bourges (1992-95) et à l’École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (1995-98).
Son travail s’attache autant à mettre au jour les rapports de forces et de violences – basés sur l’exploitation de « L’AUTRE » – qui règlent le fonctionnement de notre monde qu’à tracer le chemin vers la possibilité d’un « NOUS » invalidant toutes frontières entre endogène et exogène.
On a vu son travail, entre autres, au Van Gogh Museum (solo show dans le cadre de l’exposition Gauguin & Laval en Martinique, Amsterdam), à la Hunter East Harlem Gallery (New York), au Queens Museum (Caribbean: Crossroads of the World, New York), à la Saatchi Gallery (group show Pangaea: New Art from Africa and Latin America en 2015 et solo show en 2019, Londres), au National Museum of World Culture (Stockholm), au CCK Centro Cultural Kirchner (Argentine), à la Fundacion Divulgar – Plataforma Canibal (Barranquilla, Année France en Colombie), aux Museo de Arte Contemporáneo-MAC au Chili, en Bolivie, au Panamá et à Puerto Rico, au National Museum of World Culture (Stockholm).

Jean-François Boclé is an artist based in Paris. He was born in Martinique in 1971, where he lived for 17 years. He studied art at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Bourges (1992-95) and at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (1995-98).
His work seeks seek to highlight the relationship of forces and violence that govern the functioning of our world since the first step of Cristóbal Colón on an island in the Bahamas. He thus tries to trace the path to the possibility of a “WE” that does not rest on the exploitation of “THE OTHER”. Much more, this “WE” invalidates all boundaries between endogenous and exogenous, it is crossed.
His work has been displayed at the Van Gogh Museum (solo show in the frame of the exhibition Gauguin & Laval in Martinique, Amsterdam), at the Saatchi Gallery in London (group show Pangaea: New Art from Africa and Latin America in 2015 and 2019), at the Hunter East Harlem Gallery (New York), at the Queens Museum (Caribbean: Crossroads of the World, New York), at the Saatchi Gallery (Pangaea: New Art from Africa and Latin America, London), at the National Museum of World Culture (Stockholm), among other venues.

Jean-François Boclé es un artista residente en París. Nació en Martinica en 1971, donde vivió durante 17 años. Estudió arte en la École Nationale Supérieure D’Art de Bourges (1992-95) y en la École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (1995-98).
Su obra busca resaltar la relación de fuerzas y violencias que rigen el funcionamiento de nuestro mundo desde el primer paso de Cristóbal Colón en una isla de las Bahamas. Intenta así trazar el camino hacia la posibilidad de un “NOSOTROS” que no descansa en la explotación de “EL OTRO”. Mucho más, este “NOSOTROS” invalida todos los límites entre lo endógeno y lo exógeno, se traspasa.
