Beatriz Salamanca (Cali, Colombia; 1985) obtuvo su doctorado en estudios Hispanos y Latinoamericanos en University College London en el 2019, y es profesora de la Universidad Javeriana Cali, Colombia, donde enseña cursos de historia del derecho e historia de las ideas políticas. Sus investigaciones actuales giran en torno a la interacción entre huéspedes y anfitriones en Hispanoamérica en los siglos XVI y XVII, rastreando las distintas maneras en las que las emociones propias de la hospitalidad moldearon ideas sobre el poder político, la feminidad, y la caridad. En el 2019 recibió un Summer Fellowship del Institute for Humane Studies de George Mason University y en el 2021, la François Chevalier Fellowship del Madrid Institute for Advanced Study. Está trabajando en un capítulo de libro para Manchester University Press sobre caridad y pobreza itinerante en España en la modernidad temprana.

Beatriz Salamanca (Cali, Colombia; 1985) received her PhD in Spanish and Latin American Studies at University College London in 2019, and is a lecturer at Universidad Javeriana Cali in Colombia, where she teaches courses on the History of Law and the History of Political Thought. Her current research looks at the interaction of hosts and guests in early modern Spain and Spanish America, tracing the many ways in which the emotions involved shaped ideas about gender, power, and charity. She received a Summer Fellowship at the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University in 2019, and a François Chevalier Fellowship at the Madrid Institute for Advanced Study in 2021. She is preparing a book chapter on charity and itinerant poverty in early modern Spain for Manchester University Press.
