Mattolaituri is a series of prints from the village of Simpele, Finland, situated at the border with Russia. The area of South Karelia (previously Karelia), and its language and culture was split when part of it was taken by the Soviet Union after the Winter War of 1939–40.

The focus of the prints is on the site-specific materials, weaving traditions, and the themes of everyday life in Simpele. The prints have been developed using coffee, berries from the garden, vitamin C, and washing soda. All the components for the development could go back to the garden and were made from natural ingredients. The prints are embedded into the exhibition space. The prints on the wall will become concrete tiles and the hanging ones, curtains for the pipes.
